Attivista, politico, guerrigliero orgoglioso del proprio passato e soprattutto sognatore. “El Pepe” è diventato il presidente dell’Uruguay restando sempre fedele ai suoi ideali. Ma anche abbracciando la possibilità del cambiamento e della novità.
Un sorprendente Emir Kusturica scava nell’eredità di José “Pepe” Mujica e ritrova in lui uno spirito affine con cui discutere il senso della vita da un punto di vista filosofico, politico e poetico.
Presentato alla Mostra d’Arte Cinematografica di Venezia, il dolce ritratto di un uomo che per tutta la vita non ha mai smesso di lottare per far valere i propri ideali e realizzare desideri all’apparenza utopici.
