    Activists appeal to the UN to save an elderly man from eviction

    Last Thursday, activists of the RentStrike network organized an anti-eviction picket to save an elderly resident of Rome, victim of an irregular lease, from a life of homelessness, thanks to an appeal to the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights. They had done so in May for a similar case.

    Japan has capital punishment by hanging. A large majority of Japanese are in favour of it and often there are executions around this time of the year. However, there have been no executions since 28 July 2010. The current Justice Minister is under a lot of pressure to sign death warrants now.

    'The Seeds Beneath the Snow' is a non-profit association founded in the spring of 2006. It is based in Pisa, Italy.
    The seeds are the themes it aims to deal with: nonviolence, peace, human rights and the environment. A tri-lingual (Japanese-Italian-English) library has been set up, as well as this website.
