Per il ministro della Difesa polacco Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, un aereo militare russo operava nello spazio aereo internazionale "senza un piano di volo e con il transponder spento". Non aveva violato lo spazio aereo polacco ma le procedure di intercettazione e identificazione sono state attivate.
